Sistersville Lion’s Club Teams with Salvation Army on “Project Backpack” for Local Students

The Sistersville Lion’s Club is asking the community to join them to help fill backpacks for approximately 93 students at Sistersville Elementary for the upcoming school year. The Salvation Army is supplying backpacks for these needy students and the Lion’s Club is holding a drive to fill the backpacks with necessary school supplies.

The school supply drive will be held from Wednesday July 24 through Monday August 8. Please drop off all donations by August 8th.

The needed supplies include: • crayons • 1 subject notebooks • loose paper • glue sticks • tissues • supply holders (to keep supplies in desk) • #2 pencils

Checks should be made payable to the Sistersville Lion’s Club with the notation Project Backpack in the memo line. This is the second project that the Sistersville’s Lion’s Club and Salvation Army have partnered on together. Last December, they collaborated on a campaign with Sistersville General Hospital to help the families of patients in Journey Hospice care.

“Helping our youth become successful and contributing citizens is a priority for the Lion’s Club. This project will benefit deserving students and give them the supplies and tools they need for both classroom activities and homework,” said Linda Leasure, Sistersville Lion’s Club President. “Thank you, in advance, for any help you can give.”
